Gabutto Burger: 1st try

Gabutto Burger
Mitsuwa Marketplace

I had the Egg Gabutto burger and a side of fries. It was different in a good way.

Let’s begin with the burger. Starting from the top, a bun ( no sesame seeds or any other toppings), egg, onion, lettuce, meat (beef + pork mix), Gabutto sauce, and finally another bun. An interesting thing to note is that the buns are baked fresh at the bakery (Pastry House Hippo) next door. There are likely to be differences with the other burgers on the menu. The burger was good down to the very last bite and I’d definitely try one of the other burgers.

The potato fries are shaped like your standard French fries but definitely nowhere near as greasy as the fries from McDonald’s or a similar establishment. I tried a single fry without any sauce and it’s quite boring. Someone was kind enough to point out that I had to use the flavor packets they give you.  I used garlic-butter flavor and found my fries to be very enjoyable.  There are quite a few other flavors available.

There’s a  kid’s meal offering with an optional Gashapon for an additional fee. Other things that are on the menu are a corn soup, fruit, and a salad. That’s definitely a good thing.

Here’s a list of the  burgers available for order:

  • Gabutto Burger (original)
  • Gabutto Egg Burger
  • Gabutto Cheese Burger
  • Teriyaki Burger
  • Teriyaki Egg Burger
  • Teriyaki Chicken Burger

Here’s a list  of the flavors available for the French Fries

If you’re ever at the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Chicago, stop by the Food court try this place at least once. Since it recently opened last year, there may be a line.
